Since I left retail, I am able to be filled with Christmas joy. And oh man, I am filled with Christmas joy!!!!
This year, the day after Thanksgiving, Jordan turned on the charm and proposed that we pick out a real tree this year (my first real tree!!!!) which we did and here’s a picture of it
Ornaments are important to me. Aside from the normal, sparkly and glittery balls, they need to be of substance and interesting but not eyesores. My mom has a wonderful collection and since Jordan and I have been having Christmas together we’ve started our own.
When we travel we try to remember to get an ornament. Sometimes none of the options are good enough but it’s okay. These are from our trip to St Louis earlier this year and our trip to Hilton Head in 2014.
This is a significant piece that is close to my heart. My mom gave it to me the first Christmas I spent away from home. Considering the subject, I expected a Bible verse but much to my surprise, it houses an Eleanor Roosevelt quote. It meant a lot to me.
The truth is out there.
Jordan refuses to acknowledge Christmas before Thanksgiving and even though I may not agree with it, I respect it. That just means Christmas comes in with a bang. Christmas music, Christmas trees, Christmas decorating, Christmas movie marathons all at the same time, heavy and fast. It is glorious.
We take a road trip up to Tennessee with my parents every year for the Christmas lights at Rock City. We do Dirty Santa at his grandparents house every Christmas Eve. We have a lot of fun traditions and memories but we’re only getting started. Our family is growing and soon we will have a family of our own. I can’t wait to see what our Christmases are like then.
